Holbox is just 60 kilometres (37 miles) from Cancún international airport. To reach the island, first you need to get to Chiquilá. From here you can choose from a number of different means of transport, with an estimated travel time from as little as 20 minutes up to about 2 hours.

You can also get to the island by a private flight service with departures from Cancún or Playa del Carmen airports. The estimated flight time is just 20 minutes, allowing you to land directly at Holbox airport, saving precious time to maximise your holiday experience. For the most adventurous, there are a range of connections by bus or van at pre-scheduled times.
From Cancún, Playa del Carmen or Tulum, you can take an ADO bus (3 hours estimated travel time). To see an up to date schedule and prices please visit the official website of the Mexican transportation company: www.ado.com.mx.
Once you arrive at the small fishing port of Chiquilá, you need to take a short 20 minute ferry across the lagoon that divides Holbox from the mainland. The cost of a ticket is $200 Mexican pesos (cash only) and there are two companies that offer this service (9 hermanos and Holbox Express) with guaranteed departures every 30 minutes from 0600 until 2030 with a final service at 2130.
Last stop, Holbox pier…where you will find golf cart taxis waiting for the arrival of the ferry. Just ask them for “EL CORAZÓN BOUTIQUE HOTEL” on Paseo Kuka, between Jurel and Chac-Chi streets, and you will be here in 2 minutes.
